This poor horn is really nothing more than an ugly wall decoration now. Someone seems to have used this once beautiful horn as a club or something, since the body tube is crushed around the right thumb rest level.
That aside, the reason I chose to include this horn in the Oscar Adler gallery is because it is to date the only one I have seen that has the following features: 1. A bis Bb roller like seen on some of the G.H. Hüller saxes; 2. Mother of pearl key touches on the right pinkie keys. (It might be on the left palm keys too, but there are no photos to confirm this.); 3. Bell engraving indicating that it was made during the Nazi party's ruling of Germany. There is evidence that the swastika was altered in the years since the horn was sold. It may have been made as an instrument for a military band.
This horn has a fork Eb key, as well as a G# triller, and a high D/D# trill key as well. |
