This is the first Max Keilwerth Pure Tone-branded horn that I have seen with full pearls. In German "luxus" means luxury. Presumably the pearl treatment was at least in part a reflection of why this model was named the way it was.
Also note that this sax still had half of the warranty card with it. The other half of the card would have been sent back to the factory in Graslitz.
This Globemaster alto was built by Max Keilwerth at the time when he was working independently—after his time at Adler & FX Hüller, and before he was employed by Hohner. This horn is Czechoslovakian in origin.
The saxophones that Max Keilwerth built can be clearly identified by the Pure Tone Trademark stamp just above the serial #.
Like all the professional model horns built by the Keilwerth brothers, and other high-end European horn makers of the time, this sax had rolled tone holes and a microtuner. |
