Left Palm Keys
Description: Eb Alto
Manufacturer: G.H. Hüller
Model: ?
Serial #: 40625
Finish: Silver plated
Source: holzblasdoktor on

I have G.H. Hüller horns stamped with either 870 or 880 number stamped on the upper part of the body. This number refers to turning, with 870 = 435 tuning and 880 = 440 tuning. According to Pete Hales, 870 tuning is "French Standard Pitch", which was adopted in 1859, and officially discarded in 1939. This particular horn is stamped 870.

If you are looking to buy a G.H. Hüller saxophone, and you want to play it with modern instruments, be sure to buy a horn stamped 880.
