Description: Eb Alto
Manufacturer: Hawkes & Son
Serial #: 1259A
Finish: Silver plated
Source: emkcuf365 on eBay.com

Hawkes & Son is one of only 2 UK-based saxophone manufacturers. (The other of course is Grafton.) Hawkes & Son joined with its competitor Boosey & Company in 1930, to form Boosey & Hawkes.

This particular sax is a very early model. The leaf-shaped "feet" on the posts are reminiscent of Pierrets of the day. Actually, the entire horn strongly resembles the early model Pierrets such as the Modele 5, 5S, 6, and 7, and the Concerto with Virtuor. Check out the Pierret section for picture of these horns.
