Stencil Name: Amethyst
Serial #: ?
Finish: Nickel plated

I'm not 100% sure on the pedigree of this horn. The seller claimed that it was made by Martin Reiner, who built saxophones in Markneukirchen from 1949 to 1956. Since the seller however doesn't know how to put together a sax, it leaves some of his research in question as well.

That said, while the horn does bear some striking similarities to B&S horns (eg: the key guards), there are also features that are markedly different. Most notably the differences include: the shape of the left pinkie cluster and the shape of the right pinkie keys.

There are a few features on this tenor which seem to be features seen on Weltklang horns, including the fork Eb key and guard shape, as well as the presence and shape of the neck guard. It's almost as if this horn is a hybrid of B&S's blue label and Weltklang models, with some other design features thrown in just to make it different.

For those reasons I can't with 100% certainty say that this was a B&S-made horn. It may well have been made with B&S parts, or perhaps designed using their horns as design ideas.

Until I know for sure, I'm going to keep this horn in the mystery category. Perhaps one day I'll find out for sure. If you know, leave a comment, or send me an email through the contact button on the left. Thanks!
