Bell Engraving & Rolled Tone Hole
Bell Engraving & Rolled Tone Hole |
Description: |
Eb Alto
Manufacturer: J. Keilwerth
Model: The New King
Serial #: ?
Finish: Mostly delacquered due to wear
Source: eoneandonlypawnmaster2012 on eBay.com
This horn is a bit of a mystery. because the seller didn't provide a serial #, and these type of key guards are generally not seen on JK horns with right sided bell keys. The horns with these types of bell key guards are usually in the low 20K, and are from the time immediately after Julius started up his company in Nauheim (after his forced relocation out of Graslitz). The early Nauheim horns also had soldered tone holes, because Julius didn’t have access to a machine that would draw tone holes.
All that said, I have seen 1 alto with right sided bell keys, rolled tone holes, and these types of key guards. It is alto 21796, and is a stencil horn made under the Silvertone label for Sears Roebuck. |
