This strange bird of a horn went to auction on eBay as an "experimental" saxophone. The seller claims he built it using a prototype body of a child's saxophone. He then went on to develop the horn further by doing the following:

> Added 2 side keys so that it is playable from low C to high F#.
> Custom-fitted a Buffet alto neck to improve the sound and resonance.
> Removed all unnecessary key guards, which resulted in a weight of only 900 g.
> The G# key also functions as a low C/C# triller.

According to the seller, he used this horn in multiple concerts, and it worked really well with a Babbitt C melody mouthpiece and bass clarinet reeds. Apparently it is also supposed to play well with regular alto pieces. (Sound like any C mels you know?)

The seller chose to call this sax "MANZELLO" in remembrance of Rahsaan Roland Kirk.

I don't know why it is in an old wooden box, um I mean "a real historic wooden case", since nothing about this horn is old. WTF? Oh, and he never does explain where the curved bell came from. At this point I'm assuming it came on the prototype child's sax, but your guess is as good as mine.

I'll leave the last part of the description to the seller who wrote this: "The instrument is fully playable but keep in mind THIS IS AN EXPERIMENTAL SAX, I am lacking time and financial resources to make this a real professional instrument -
I would exchange the experimental side keys for newly designed ones with new toneholes, would have the body maybe again gold plated, tweak and improve the mechanic etc.)"

OK, you've been warned.
