Description: Eb Alto
Manufacturer: Pierret
Model: Embassy
Serial #: 15XX
Finish: Lacquer with nickel plated keys
Source: allinwrist on

I used to think that these Embassy saxes were like the horns that Pierret produced for Olds (the Parisian), only with left-sided bell keys.

However this seller—who is someone I know from SOTW, and is someone I have personally bought a horn from—compared this Embassy with a Parisian that they had in the shop. It turns out that the two models have different body specs.

In addition to this, the seller also pointed out that the keywork on the horn—I specifically noticed that left pinkie cluster now that he mentioned it—is like that found on the Modele Competition and the Artiste Competion. What is strange though, is that Pierret chose to put left-sided bell keys on these Embassy saxophones.

It would be interesting to compare an Embassy's bore, tone hole placement, etc, with those of the Modele Competition and Artiste Competition. Perhaps then we might gain a greater insight into what the company was doing with their designs... Or perhaps not...
