This is how the seller described this unusual horn:
"On November 6th I hosted in Berlin the 200th birthday bash for Adolphe Sax with over 200 saxophonists, and over the intensive preparation period I got interested in Adolphe Sax and Adolphe Sax son instruments. One of my purchases was a copy of an Adolphe Sax son Alto made in the Borgani workshop with a wide bell. It had been played by a now retired swing musician in Amsterdam who had the instrument heavily decorated and customized with strass stones. This alto is in great playing condition and has a very good tuning from 440-443 HZ. It comes with two necks, the original one and a SMG custom bronze neck. The modern neck has an even larger sound with more flexibility I find. It has nearly new pads, springs and corks and only one little epoxy repair on the G-axis which doesn´t affect the playability at all. It has a great warm and "pure" focussed sound and is quite inspiring to play. The mechanic/ergonomics is lice a Selmer model 22, it has a single octave vent! The serial number is 1596. I took it with me on a three week tour with venues from large halls to small jazz clubs and it was truly a joy to play. This saxophone is a truly unique piece - fine and playable for those who are looking for a vintage sax design without low Bb - which I like - and the sax is very lightweight. It comes in a slightly customized YANAGISAWA hard case, safely shipped from Berlin, Germany." |
