There are 2 versions of these Lyon & Healy Perfect Curved Sopranos. The first was apparently made by Holton, while the second was supposed to have been made by Martin. Holton's version was not very good, while the 2nd incarnation is extremely good.
Saxophone historian Pete Hales is of the opinion that this 2nd version of the Perfect Curved Soprano was not made by Martin at all, but was made by Couturier. This particular saxophone is the one that apparently convinced him of this fact. He will be doing more research on the topic, but in the meantime I opted to put this soprano under the Couturier category. |
