Note the soldered tone holes on the sax. (They may even appear to be bevelled, it's hard to tell for sure in these small photos.) This is because this saxophone was built by the Keilwerth Company shortly after it started operations in Nauheim, Germany in 1947. Because the family was forcibly moved from Graslitz, and each member of the family was only allowed to bring along a max. of 50 kg of luggage, the business had to start anew. Therefore in the beginning, JK didn't have access to a machine that could draw tone holes.

According to German saxophone dealer Bluespeter1 Saxophone Ladbergen, these Lus models were built only in very limited numbers, and that "Lus" was the nickname of Julius Keilwerth.
