3 things tell me this might be one of the "transitional" horns the company built as it was switching between its East Germany (VEB Blechblas und Signal-Instrumenten-Fabrik) and unified Germany (Vogtländische Musikinstrumentenfabrik GmbH) identities:
1. The finish: Lacquer was not a finish we saw on "blue label" horns, nor was it advertised by the VEB.
2. The serial #: Horns coming from the former DDR didn't start with a "0".
3. It has the old-style engraving |
