I was very torn about this horn, because it belonged to Sam Netherland, a frequent visitor and commenter on my website. He and I exchanged emails frequently, and spoke of our love of vintage saxes. I knew he had this horn, and he did offer to sell it to me at one point, but I didn't bite. Now again I didn't buy this tenor. Maybe I ought to have, but I have so many tenors that don't get out to play, buying another one just doesn't make good sense. I hope it found a good home. It is down right minty. Sam basically never played it.

Kessler & Sons were authorized B&S dealers. Dave Kessler described this model Medusa like this:

"Featuring a Goldbrass body, brass keys. The Goldbrass material is very similar to Bronze. It contains more copper in the metal alloy content. The slightly heavier metal produces a richer tone.

The B&S Medusa comes with 3 necks:

Brass - Standard model neck. Yellow brass gives overall a brighter tone.
Solid Nickel - This neck produces a rich, edgy tone.
Goldbrass - Gives darker tone.

The particular model shown is their "SL" finish. Silver plated bell, bow & keys. The Goldbrass neck is also silver plated on this model.

Extremely powerful sound with a great amount of tonal clarity and projection.

The mechanics of the B&S Medusa are flawlessly smooth and comfortable. The left hand pinky cluster also has a C# / B bridge that makes moving between the two much more comfortable."
