Left Side Neck Attached
Description: Bb Tenor
Manufacturer: Max Keilwerth (?)
Stencil Name: Melody
Serial #: ?
Finish: Nickel plated
Source: kittenwhisper on eBay.fr

This horn is rather intriguing, and Peter Hales and I were having lengthy discussions as to its possible origins.

I believe its features most closely align with the saxophones made by Max Keilwerth. For example, check out Josef Lidl Tenor 5061.

However, this melody is also lacking many of the features we have come to associate with MK's fine saxophones. Features such as: the G# and C/D trill keys, and the microtuner. Furthermore, it is lacking some basic features like a front F key, and even a chromatic F#.

What's even more confusing, is that in Left Side Lower Portion pic, one can barely see a serial #. It may start out with a 5. There doesn't appear to be MK's True Tone Trade Mark stamp anywhere near that serial #. In theory, the serial # should be lower on the body tube, with Max's logo above it.

I'm also curious above the "B" engraved on the bell just above the Melody name. What does it mean?

In short, this Melody is an enigma. Was it made by Max Keilwerth? Was it made by someone else?
