Bell Engraving 2
Description: Eb Alto
Manufacturer: Max Keilwerth
Model: Präsident
Serial #: ?
Finish: Nickel plated
Source: zoltiimro4 on eBay.com

This alto sold in September 2015. Asking price was €700.00, but Best Offer was accepted.

I have not seen many of these Präsident saxophones, so I cannot say with 100% certainty what the German spelling of President is all about. However, I can speculate that the German-spelled Präsident horns are the earliest incarnations of the President model saxophones that Max Keilwerth built. The very limited serial #'s that I have seen would back up this theory.

Furthermore, the saxophones that Max Keilwerth built can normally be clearly identified by the Pure Tone Trademark stamp just above the serial #. Unfortunately no serial # is provided for this horn, but for the ones I have seen, that stamp is missing. It is quite possible that these Präsident saxophones were built before MK received his Trademark.

This Präsident was built by Max Keilwerth at the time when he was working independently—after his time at Adler & FX Hüller, and before he was employed by Hohner.

Like all the professional model horns built by the Keilwerth brothers, and other high-end European horn makers of the time, this sax had rolled tone holes.
