Description: Eb Alto
Manufacturer: Hohner Musikinstrumente
Model: President
Serial #: 24XX? Seller claims he couldn't be sure, because of a lot of finish wear under the thumb hook.
Finish: Lacquer

This is, so far at least, the earliest model of President displayed in this gallery. This sax is pre-1953, since it doesn't have rolled tone holes. Hohner used rolled tone holes on their saxophones between serial #s 2600 11999, circa 1953 through 1962.

This sax also has a G# trill keya feature which Hohner dropped from their saxes in the mid 50s.

This sax does not have the typical Hohner round thumb screw that fastens the neck into the socket. Instead it has a more conventional fastening system. In the research I have done there is no mention of Hohner using this conventional system. However, since this appears to be stock, it is likely that this is a very early President, and that Hohner introduced the round thumbscrew later in the production run.
