Bell Engraving
Description: Eb Alto
Manufacturer: Orsi
Stencil Name: Pennsylvania
Ordering Company: Selmer
Serial #: B4267
Finish: Lacquer with nickel plated keys

This mysterious little alto is quite the enigma. Starting with who it was stencilled for—it was stencilled for Selmer—right down to the right sided bell keys on such an early serial number horn. Normally when we see right sided bell keys on an Orsi, we immediately think it's a pro model, or stencil of their pro model. However, not all the features of this sax are congruent with Orsi's pro model of horn. Check out this page in the vintage catalogue to see what I mean. The most obvious difference the the bell to body brace. I have a number of horns in this gallery that look like the images in this catalogue.

I'm not sure what this horn is, but it certainly very interesting, since it is the first time that I have seen any division of Selmer order a stencil from Orsi.

Orsi saxes are generally very good players, and I'm sure that this sax is no exception. But it certainly isn't a Selmer.
