I believe that this may be the same horn that appeared on eBay in January 2011. There was a lot of controversy about it on SOTW, and needless to say, the horn did not sell on eBay.
The reason I believe it may be the same eBay horn is because the first 2 digits of the serial #s are the same (85), and the badge where the name goes shows signs of buffing. This was one of the reasons that there was so much talk about it on SOTW.
Regardless of what may or may not have been done regarding the name, it is a D&J alto, and should sell price-wise accordingly.
Dörfler & Jörka produced alto and tenor stencil saxophones for many companies that strongly resembled the J. Keilwerths of the day. However, D&J are not Keilwerth stencil saxophones. |
