Do you see a difference? Which Is Real? Which Is A Toy?

Under the categories of: strange and rare musical instruments, saxophone-shaped musical instruments, and saxophone-shaped children’s toys, here’s a test that measures your brain’s ability to filter out the real from the fake. 

Here are 2 pairs of photos. See if you can figure out which one of these is a real musical instrument, and which is child’s toy.

Well, what do you think? For Set 1 if you said Photo 1 was a real instrument, you would be correct. It is a J. Keilwerth Toneking 3000 Jazzophone. According to the instrument’s inventor, Gerhard Keilwerth, no more than 100 of these horns were made. They were manufactured between 1982-86.

Photo 2 however, is of a vintage toy stamped Camp Saxo France. It is currently on eBay. The auction ends on September 13, so if you are interested, you best hurry.

For Set 2 if you believed that Photo 4 was the real instrument, you would be correct. It is a rotary valved trumpet that is most likely German in origin.

Photo 3 on the other hand, is a solid brass toy that measures 10.5″ in length. It was made by the Delinot company in France. This little vintage toy is also currently on eBay, and its auction is running until September 17. It is being offered together with a toy trombone, which is also in minty condition.
