I Saw One Of My Favourite Artists Live Last Night

Last night I went to hear one of my favourite performers at a local club. The Pussy Cat Lounge is renowned for bringing in some well known acts. However, none are as well known as this guy, who has been around since 1963 when he first debuted in the opening sequence of the first Pink Panther movie.

If you’d like to hear what he sounded like, here’s a sample of what the evening was like. I snuck in a recorder, and caught the Pink Panther performing.

Needless to say I was just thrilled to have the Pink Panther himself sign a photo for me. I feel really privileged to have been in his company for a few minutes.

I realized afterwards that I was so starstruck, that I forgot to ask the really important questions like:

  • What make and model of horn do you play?
  • What mouthpiece do you use?
  • What ligature?
  • What reeds and strength?
  • What about a stand. What do you use for that?
  • What kind of case do you use for travelling?

Oh well, there’s always next time! 😉

…this is just my blog. My “real” website is www.bassic-sax.info. If you’re looking for sax info, you should check it out too. There’s lots there!

Funny that you should see him now I have the album on vinyl from when the movie was first released (have been working on Making digital copies from the vinyl). 😀 Here is a picture of the front of the album Cover

    1. Ah yes, he was much younger then. But then weren’t we all? Hey, I was just a sparkle in my parents’ eye. OK, I might have been a bump…Hard to say. It’s all a matter a timing. Much like music itself. 😉

I keep thinking of making the analogue to digital conversion. I’ve checked out some of the USB turntables, but I also know I don’t have enough hours in the day to do it right now. It would be just another peripheral that takes up space that doesn’t get used.

I have so many great LPs, and a couple of really nice regular turntables, so they will have to do for now. 8)
