R.I.P. Gerhard Julius Keilwerth

I received this today from Uwe Ladwig. This is of course incredibly sad news for the family. As they say in the obit:

For us still incomprehensible, and much to too early, but after a serious illness we have to say goodbye to loving and kind-hearted husband, devoted father, loving brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, and godfather…

obituary for Gerhard Julius Keilwerth, died February 24, 2012

Gerhard Keilwerth had a shop in Nauheim, Germany, where he restored saxophones. Although he sold many vintage brands, he specialized in Keilwerths (probably not too surprising).

Gerhard Keilwerth was the grandson of Julius Keilwerth. After his father Josef’s death, Gerhard, together with his sister Christa, managed the family company from 1982 – 1989. After Boosey & Hawkes took over the company, Gerhard stayed with JK until 2006, where he worked in the area of product development.

…this is just my blog. My “real” website is www.bassic-sax.info. If you’re looking for sax info, you should check it out too. There’s lots there!
