A Sax Stand For Your Sax Dungeon

Do you need a new sax stand? Do you want this stand to hold multiple saxophones? Do your tastes run to the, well, what might be called fetish-like? If so, then UK-based, Musician’s Navigator.com, has just the saxophone stand for your sax dungeon. (Thanks to this Cafe Saxophone thread, I found out about this interesting, European-made product.)

This seemingly S&M-inspired sax stand—and sure, you could say that S&M refers to sax & musicianship 😉 —appears to take its inspiration from some of the implements found in some of the finest BDSM dungeons. smiley-sex014

Very interesting, but what the hell is a “canto” sax? Is that a foreign language name for soprano? I’m assuming it is.

What I thought was interesting, was that the company is able to: “customize stand construction exactly according [a player’s] needs”. I wonder if they are able to make stands larger, say for a baritone sax?

All joking aside, this looks like a very stable, and well-made saxophone stand. The company doesn’t mention its weight, but I don’t think that it would be a feather-light. I suspect that it would have some weight to it.

I wonder how portable this sax stand is? Is it practical to take out on gigs or shows? Or is it more of a leave-it-in-the-studio kind of stand?

Whichever the case, this customizable sax stand looks very interesting, and will likely be a good way to keep your babies safe when they are out of their cases. It would be interesting to read some reviews of players who have bought these stands. I am curious to know if they work as well as they look.

Update June 2024: It appears these are no longer available. In case you were one of the lucky few who ended up with one, I thought I’d leave this right here for future reference.

Hmmm, and here I thought the Pierret article was Scandalous Enough to make even This old Jaded BariSax player perk his “ears” up, then this beautifully designed piece of musical apparatus comes onto the scene! Almost certain to appeal to Any Hardware Afficianado! And I’m quite certain it would be very little trouble to make the tubes longer to accomodate any size body. Saxophone Body, that is.
Of course, I did notice one little detail they some may feel would be advantageous to preventing one’s instrument from accidentally escaping.

    Soft Lined Restraints, of course!
