{"id":1175,"date":"2016-03-06T19:17:26","date_gmt":"2016-03-06T19:17:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thesax.info\/makesandmodelslist\/?p=1175"},"modified":"2020-01-20T16:30:07","modified_gmt":"2020-01-20T16:30:07","slug":"yanagisawa-wo-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bassic-sax.info\/Pete\/makesandmodelslist\/yanagisawa-wo-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Yanagisawa: WO Series"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><style>\n      div.paragraph {<br \/>\n        text-align: center;<br \/>\n      }<br \/>\n    <\/style><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><script src=\"https:\/\/bassic-sax.info\/Pete\/makesandmodelslist\/gallery_comment_pages\/buttonscript.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-button aligncenter\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background has-vivid-cyan-blue-background-color\" href=\"https:\/\/bassic-sax.info\/Pete\/makesandmodelslist\/fixed-table-master\/yani-wo-series2.html\">Model, Finish, and Price List<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Brief Model Notes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve heard some folks say that these horns are &#8220;exactly the same&#8221; as the 901\/902\/991\/992\/993x. &nbsp;Well, not quite. &nbsp;There are five&nbsp;changes for both the Professional and Elite models, which are&nbsp;detailed on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kesslerandsons.com\/blog\/yanagisawa-wo-series-alto-saxophones\/\">Dave Kessler&#8217;s blog:<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bore of the bell and bow.<\/li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Brass and bronze composition.<\/li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Front (altissimo) F key has a slight redesign.<\/li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The right hand palm keys now have stops or &#8220;feet.&#8221;<\/li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Eb\/C keys are slightly repositioned.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a couple more changes for the&nbsp;Professional&nbsp;models:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Left hand palm keys are now plate construction, rather than post-on-body.<\/li><li>Change to the neck construction to make it a bit heavier and more robust.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s also a new case for both models and the engraving is different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dave Kessler also makes a couple remarks about how some of the design changes are kind of &#8220;throwbacks&#8221; to the 800\/880 series horns. &nbsp;That&#8217;s not necessarily a bad thing. &nbsp;I&#8217;d like some other companies to go back and use features they had on their older products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that there are only straight soprano, alto, and tenor WO Series horns currently available as I update this page this (October 8, 2017). &nbsp;It also appears that several finish choices have made it onto several Yanagisawa websites, but they are either not yet available or they&#8217;re only custom order. &nbsp;Some of the websites I looked at had wait times of a few months for some models and finishes. &nbsp;Heck, Conn-Selmer doesn&#8217;t even have&nbsp;any WO Series horns listed on their website, yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve also noted that the WO37 seems to always be pictured with over-the-top octave keys on the neck. &nbsp;I don&#8217;t know if this indicates anything. &nbsp;Hey, you might get both necks when you get a WO37.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Serial Number Information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For&nbsp;the majority of horns, you&#8217;ll see a serial number starting with &#8220;00&#8221; that does not have an embedded date.
