{"id":214,"date":"2013-09-30T01:43:35","date_gmt":"2013-09-30T01:43:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thesax.info\/makesandmodelslist\/?p=214"},"modified":"2024-09-07T21:29:26","modified_gmt":"2024-09-07T21:29:26","slug":"aboutcontact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bassic-sax.info\/Pete\/makesandmodelslist\/aboutcontact\/","title":{"rendered":"About\/Contact Me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Someone mentioned that people didn&#8217;t know who I was. \u00a0I seem to have forgotten to include an &#8220;About&#8221; page on this incarnation of my blogs. \u00a0Sorry about that.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m Pete. \u00a0I&#8217;m the guy that created <a href=\"http:\/\/saxpics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Vintage Saxophone Gallery, aka Saxpics.com<\/a>, about 12 years ago, and built that into the second largest repository of saxophone information on the Internet. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/forum.saxontheweb.net\/showthread.php?63278-www-saxpics-com-sold\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I sold that website to USAHorn.com in 2007<\/a>. \u00a0Since that time, there have been an awful lot of advances in all things Internet. \u00a0I decided that I wanted to play with some of them. \u00a0This blog is part of that. \u00a0It&#8217;s just taken me awhile to settle on a format I like.<\/p>\n<p>Anyhow, a brief resume:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Former moderator, administrator and techie contact for the <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.saxontheweb.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sax-on-the-Web forum<\/a>. \u00a0I&#8217;ve also written a few articles for them.<\/li>\n<li>Administrator and co-founder of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.woodwindforum.com\/forums\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Woodwind Forum<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Former assistant to the director at one of the largest churches in Western NY.<\/li>\n<li>Former director at two smallish churches in Tucson, AZ.  One&#8217;s bankrupt and the other moved.  Neither were my fault.  Honest!<\/li>\n<li>Saxophone training from two\u00a0prot\u00e9g\u00e9\u200es of Sigurd Rascher.<\/li>\n<li>Classically trained bass singer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By trade, I&#8217;m actually a computer technician and I&#8217;ve been one for over 30 years. \u00a0I currently work on computer security (i.e. viruses &#8216;n&#8217; stuff) at a Fortune 500 company. \u00a0The computer techie occasionally comes through in my writing. \u00a0Please forgive that. \u00a0Do note that it&#8217;s very probable that you&#8217;ll see me on some techie websites. \u00a0I&#8217;ve also thought about writing a techie book.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve mainly played baritone sax throughout my music career, but \u00a0I have also played a variety of saxophones from Bb soprano to Bb bass and quite a bit of clarinet, mostly Bb bass and Bb contrabass. \u00a0At one time, I did own a lot of saxophones, clarinets, synths and synth controllers. \u00a0I no longer do. \u00a0Practically none of the pics you see here are of instruments I&#8217;ve owned.<\/p>\n<p>I no longer play or sing &#8220;out,&#8221; due to some medical issues.
