In other words, it was both functionally and structurally identical to the <a href=\"https:\/\/bassic-sax.info\/pix\/index.php?\/category\/13350\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Buescher Academy line of saxophones<\/a> from the 1950s. I also think they were probably as short lived as the Buescher Academy &#8212; or even less short lived.<\/p>\n<p>Everything I could say about reduced-keywork saxophones is laid out by Stephen Howard in his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shwoodwind.co.uk\/Reviews\/Saxes\/Alto\/alphasax.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">excellent review<\/a> of the current reduced-keywork saxophone, the <a href=\"https:\/\/tjsaxes.co.uk\/products\/alphasax\/alphasax\/alphasax\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trevor Jones Alphasax<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The main reason why the Alphasax is (or has been) more successful than the Buescher Academy or the Yanagisawa A-2 is because the horn isn&#8217;t only lighter, but the keywork is a better fit for folks with small hands. That&#8217;s a big plus. However, if the problem the student has is <em>only<\/em> the horn&#8217;s weight, rather than keywork, it&#8217;s possible that the reintroduced plastic (polycarbonate, to be precise) saxophone, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vibratosax.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Vibratosax<\/a>, might be a better idea.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Serial Number Information<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The 2 Series horns have a five or six-digit serial number.
