Only 361 Shopping Days Left Until Christmas

If you’re one of those people who likes to get a head start on their holiday shopping—and yes, those people really do exist—then today’s item might find its way under next year’s Christmas tree of the sax player in your life. However, it is far more likely that you’re still suffering from the shopping hangover of 2010, and not yet thinking of the 2011 holiday season.

It’s too bad that I didn’t stumble across this site earlier in December, because this South African piece of saxophone art is rather interesting. It might be something that floats your boat.

The store describes the figure like this:

SAXOPHONE (SAX) PLAYER, RECYCLED TIN CAN – SOUTH AFRICA

FAIR TRADE PRODUCT

This recycled tin can Saxophone Player is crafted of steel wire and strips of tin cans! This musician figure is playing the sax and is made of multi-colored strips, primarily black and yellow. He stands not quite 8″ in height.

As each piece is handcrafted – they are individual pieces of art!

We carry a wonderful, unique selection of Recycled Tin Can Art in our store!

Notice that there appears to be only 1 of these sax players in stock. I wonder if SIS International will be getting more?

SIS International is an actual brick and mortar store located in Enterprise, Alabama. According to their website:

SiS’ focus is towards quality Fair Trade products as well as regional arts and crafts with an International flavor. We believe in supporting the efforts that Fair Trade encompasses – which includes environmentally sustainable resources, providing healthy and safe working conditions, fair wages for producers and promotion of human rights – especially in regards to child labor and the status of women. Fair Trade products are also produced within the United States!

In SIS’ store you will find a wide array of items, including original elephant art. This is my personal favourite. Now if they could only get that elephant to paint a saxophone, I’d buy it for sure! 😀

…this is just my blog. My “real” website is www.bassic-sax.info. If you’re looking for sax info, you should check it out too. There’s lots there!
