How To Improve The Tone Of Your Mark VI & SBA

While checking YouTube, I happened to come across this very interesting video by John Tendy. His idea of tuning your late model SBA or early model Mark VI sharp, and then lipping it down, was an eye opener.

Regardless of what vintage Mark VI or SBA you play—or for that matter what model of Selmer—this might be worth a try. The tonal difference Tendy achieves is quite remarkable.

However, as Tendy points out more than once in the 1½ minute video, this wouldn’t really be appropriate in your concert or community bands. This technique really is more for jazz settings.

…this is just my blog. My “real” website is www.bassic-sax.info. If you’re looking for sax info, you should check it out too. There’s lots there!
