Jinbao: American-Designed, Chinese-Made Bass Saxophone

This entry is part 7 of 26 in the series Asian-Made Modern Bass Sax Brand Names

As I was doing my usual, weekly, eBay window shopping, I happened to come across yet another American-designed, Chinese-made bass saxophone, whose brand name I had not heard of before. Jinbao? That certainly was a new one for me.

Looking at the rather small pictures, it does bear a striking resemblance to many of the other American-designed, Asian-made bass saxes that seem to have been multiplying like rabbits on eBay over the past few months. icon_albino However, if what Steve Goodson says is correct, then that would certainly explain the similarities.

This is what the seller says about the sax:

BASS SAXOPHONE NEW & EXCELLENT
The workmanship and playing qualities of this sax are superb and it is in tune. It plays to high F# and has been adjusted so the high tone using the high “F” button plays correctly. The mechanism is high quality and there is no difficulty to reach keys as did the “old” bass saxophones. It is in a wheeled case, which make it much easier to move about.
I have brokered the sale of over thirty bass saxophones in my lifetime and had three which I considered “keepers.” I bought this one thirteen months ago and promptly sold my Buescher. I planned to get back into playing bass saxophone but my back problem prevents that. So you get a chance at the best bass saxophone I ever owned. It is a Jinbao and made in China. Check my price against other advertised saxophones and you will see that I have priced this one very competitively. The saxophone is guaranteed to do everything I say it does. The shipping cost is for FedEx Ground Home Delivery. Other methods cost more. Let me know if you prefer another shipping method and I will calculate cost. I do have a truck and could deliver it within a few hundred miles for the cost of my time & gasoline.
