The Happiest Place On Earth… For A Bass Saxophone

This entry is part 8 of 26 in the series Asian-Made Modern Bass Sax Brand Names

With the fair amount of talk about Asian-made bass saxophones both here, and on the various sax forums, I thought this YouTube clip was rather interesting. Bass saxophone player Edmund Velasco, from one of the Disneyland bands, is playing an IW 661 by International Woodwind.

The IW 661 is the more expensive of the 2 models of bass saxophones that International Woodwind sells. The IW 602 retails for $10,998, whereas the IW 661 we see in the video retails for $14,998. I wrote an article about these horns in October, in case you missed it, and are interested in checking it out.

Regardless if you’re a vintage horn enthusiast & player like I am, or prefer modern horns for yourself, if you like bass saxophones, Pink Elephants On Parade should bring a smile to your face. In it we hear our beloved bass doing what is was built to do, and that is a wonderful thing to behold.

…this is just my blog. My “real” website is www.bassic-sax.info. If you’re looking for sax info, you should check it out too. There’s lots there!
