Last night I happened to catch a classic episode of The Simpsons while channel surfing before going to my Deception rehearsal. It was the episode titled Moaning Lisa, in which Lisa meets jazz-saxophonist, Bleeding Gums Murphy.

"Bleeding

The rather poignant exchange that rather caught my attention went like this:

Bleeding Gums Murphy: You know, you play pretty well for someone with no real problems.

Lisa: Yeah, well I don’t feel any better.

Bleeding Gums Murphy: The blues isn’t about making yourself feel better, it’s about making other people feel worse. And makin’ a few bucks while you’re at it.

(Emphasis added)

"Lisa

So with that bit of wisdom freshly in my mind, off I went to rehearsal… Doing the best impersonation of Lisa Simpson’s playing that I could. 😀
