I found something very interesting on the German eBay site: a Hammerschmidt, Klingsor tenor saxophone, in seemingly lovely, restored condition.

Because the eBay ad is in German, I’ll give you the translated version:

Bb Tenor Klingsor

Made by Hammerschmidt in Burgau. Serial number: 0128, silver plated, with brushed silver body, and polished keys. Rolled tones, interesting octave lever, key guards made of Plexiglas. Restored with new pads with metal resonators, new springs, felts, and corks. Comes complete with new gig bag.

This saxophone is being sold through none other than Gerhard Julius Keilwerth’s eBay store. Apparently all the vintage saxophones he sells through his on-line store, called saxophon-spezialist, are painstakingly restored through his own shop in Nauheim, Germany.

This particular Hammerschmidt is being offered for the Buy It Now price of €980, which at the time of writing, is approximately $1300 US.

At present, there is 1 offer on the sax. The auction for this horn ends on May 12.
