This is the sax that started me down the road of D\u00f6rfler & J\u00f6rka research. In February 2009 I saw this vintage horn hanging on a wall in a local music store. It was sitting amongst a bunch of old, shitty students horns that cost twice much\u2014horns like a Grange tenor circa the 1970s. What drew me in to take a closer look at this horn, was its dark gold lacquer colour, and the large mother of pearl buttons on the key guards.<\/p>\n

To date this is the only\u00a0D\u00f6rfler & J\u00f6rka-stencilled De Villiers that I have come across. I have however, seen a number of Asian-made De Villier\u2014notice the lack of “s”\u2014saxophones, but don’t know if there is any connection to the original company that ordered my De Villiers from D&J.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
