In February 2009 I saw this vintage horn hanging on a wall in a local music store. It was sitting amongst a bunch of old, shitty students horns that cost twice much\u2014horns like a Grange tenor circa the 1970s. What drew me in to take a closer look at this horn, was its dark gold lacquer colour, and the large mother of pearl buttons on the key guards.<\/p>\n<p>To read more about this horn, how I came to buy it, and what my first perceptions of it were when I took it to its first rehearsal with <em>Deception<\/em>, check out <a href=\"http:\/\/bassic-sax.info\/version5\/about\/gear\/unusual-saxes\/de-villiers-tenor\">the De Villiers page<\/a> on this site under the Unusual Saxes section.<\/p>\n<p>To date this is the only\u00a0D\u00f6rfler &amp; J\u00f6rka-stencilled De Villiers that I have come across.
