King, Conn, Martin, and Buescher were the top 4 American saxophone manufacturers of yesteryear. Even today, fine playing horns made by these manufacturers are sought after, and some examples—such as the King Super 20 Silver Sonic—can demand top dollar.

Because there has been much written about these and other brands already, I have no intention of reinventing the wheel. I therefore suggest that if you’re looking for information on specific brands, that you check out a reliable source of information, such as Saxpics, The Martin Story, and hnwhite.com.

Rather than rehashing information already on the web, on Bassic Sax I have instead chosen to focus on a photographic representation of great American horns of the past. Think of my site as a photo gallery of some of the best—or in some cases interesting or unique—American saxophones made.

Over time as Pete’s and my Bassic Sax Pix gallery grows, more American saxophone manufacturers will be added to this list.

If you have a saxophone that you would like to contribute to the gallery, drop me an email, and I will be happy to do it for you. If you own a sax from a manufacturer that I have so far not included in my gallery, no problem, I’ll be happy to add a new category.

Buescher

Conn

Couturier

Holton

King

Loomis

Martin

Olds Super

Reiffel and Husted

Vintage American saxophones are legendary.
