he Bassic Sax Jazz Ensemble is a 5-piece jazz band specializing in standards from the 30s through the 70s, as well as some smooth jazz renditions of more modern songs.
Formed in late 2005 by saxophonist Helen Kahlke, the band line-up includes Steve Fultz on bass, Gary Huntbatch on drums and vocals, Jason Brown on piano, and Karen Durant on vocals.
The band’s unusually spelled name pays homage to Helen Kahlke’s 1922 Buescher bass saxophone.
