Black nickel plated body with silver plated keys, except for the upper octave key which is black nickel. The bell and bow are silver plated with black nickel plated key guards. The neck is 93% pure sterling silver. The horn has black mother of pearl key touches and black pads.

The Silver Star edition was brought out by J. Keilwerth to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the SX90R design. It was a limited edition horn.
