A Most Unusual Saxophone Sculpture

I don’t even remember how I stumbled across this photo the other day, but I did. It’s not like I regularly read science blogs…

However, once I saw it, there was no going back. There was just something about this sculpture of a chubby alto sax player from Himeji, Japan, that brought a smile to my face.

This is the kind of art I would expect to see in some European countries, not in Japan. I think of Japan more like North America with regards to their repression of sexuality. Perhaps I am wrong in my thinking.

In any event, I wish I could read the writing on the marble block. It would be interesting to know if it sheds some light onto this mysterious nude saxophone player. I am most curious to know what he is trying to tell us.

…this is just my blog. My “real” website is www.bassic-sax.info. If you’re looking for sax info, you should check it out too. There’s lots there!
