Would you buy a saxophone from a manufacturer who also makes fabulous “must haves” such as…
A Roman Maximus Gladiator Helmet?

Or, how about a fully wearable Medieval suit of armour?

What about Medieval style handcuffs or a ball & chain?

Well if you’ve answered “Yes” to any of the above questions, then you’re in luck, because I’ve found a saxophone manufacturer that you will want to check out.
The Raison Band Instruments Company, a division of the Raison company that makes these fine products shown above, manufacturers both alto and tenor saxophones. This is what they say about their horns:

Although the company mentions tenor saxophones on their website, there are no pictures of any. There is also no way to order a tenor, or a used saxophone, or any of the accessories they mention. The alto saxophones Raison shows on its website, are priced at $275.00.
Since the photos are rather blurry, it is hard to tell for sure, but it appears the saxophones are keyed to high F. They do only go to low B however, and are lacking a chromatic F# key, front F, and Bis Bb. The jury’s out on the articulated G#, but I would rather doubt it.
I remember reading about Indian-made saxophones on SOTW about 10 years ago, and that was the first time I had ever heard anything about these instruments. Then in 2000, I happened to see one in Toronto at the Long & McQuade store. IIRC, it was in the used instrument display case. I remember being struck by how primitively it was made.
I don’t know how many Indian saxophone manufacturers there are, but this Raison alto looks the same as every other Indian sax I’ve seen, with regards to layout and range. The only difference is the finish.
The other Indian saxes I’ve seen, have had a brass finish of some sort. This looks like it might, and I stress might, be nickle-plated. I wouldn’t be surprised though if it were a cheaper finish over top of the brass.
Anyways, if you’re an avid saxophone collector, and you really want to have one of everything by the time you die, then I’m sure the Raison Band Instrument Company would be very pleased to sell you one of their saxophones. Hell, you might want to order one of the Roman Gladiator helmets while you’re at it. You never know when you might need it… Much like this sax.
