I saw this photo by anemoneprojectors on Flickr and it immediately caught my eye. It was taken in Hertfordshire, England on May 26, 2009.
Living statue

The text under the photo on Flickr says: “Scaring little children for charity, in Westgate, Stevenage.” Now there is something creepy about this clown, and I could see him scaring some little kids perhaps. In any event, his cause is a good one.
I wonder if he was playing the alto at all, or if he was just standing stationary. Given his gloves, I would guess he wasn’t playing. Perhaps this was a piece of performance art.
NB: I did optimize this photo for use on my blog, so it did lose some of its clarity. Please visit anemonprojectors’ original photo page on Flickr if you’d like to view the original.
Hi there anemone. Welcome to my website.
Thanks for the clarification on the statue’s sax playing. Now you’ve given me an idea for what I could be doing for a part time job. 😉
Thanks for stopping by.
Regards,
Helen
He was playing the sax. Children would go up to put money in the bucket and he’d give a quick blast to make them jump. Actually he seemed to scare more teenage girls than anyone else. Every now and then he’d play a little tune.
