In Vancouver we really only have 1 blues club: The Yale Hotel on Granville Street. This club is home to the blues in BC’s largest city.
Like many night clubs the world over, the Yale is pretty sad looking during the daytime. But at night, its blue neon beacon beckons patrons from far and wide.

I love old neon signs. Interestingly enough, there was a story in last night’s news about an art exhibit in which a local artist has captured some of Vancouver’s old neon in paintings. That wasn’t so much the interesting part. What shocked me, was when the arts reporter said that Vancouver used to have 19,000 neon signs. 😯
We have but a handful left now. Even some of the ones that Gord McKenna has captured in his photos are already gone. 😥
