I don’t have any cats, but when my son plays his sax, our dog seems to think: “Hey, a member of my pack is howling! I think I’ll join in!” And so he does, and he appears to enjoy it greatly. He also likes to lie underneath the piano next to the soundboard while I am playing. Apparently, he is a musical dog!
None of my dogs have ever howled while I play, but one of my borzoi used to howl whenever the song New Attitude by Patti LaBelle came on. He’d sit in front of the stereo of howl perfectly in pitch with Patti LaBelle’s vocal wails. He knew the song so well that as soon as the intro riffs started, he’d run into the room. The breeder thought this was so funny that she recorded a video of it and sent it to LaBelle’s management company. Apparently they were not as amused as she was, since the breeder never heard back from either the management company, or Patti LaBelle herself.
After my dog passed away it took a long time before I could watch the video again. I had 3 borzoi all at the same time, and while only the male howled, the 2 bitches sat beside him as if they were an audience. When I later did watch the video, my remaining borzoi went to the TV, looked behind it, and finally sat down in front of it. It was rather moving moment as we all mourned the loss of our friend.
“I wonder if there’s catfood in the bell…”
A most excellent photograph!
If I were to offer a caption it would be:
“It’s only a matter of time…”
Peace,
