Ah yes, it’s that time of year again when holiday shopping has begun in earnest. Stores are getting their Christmas displays out, and the malls are getting their Santa spots ready. All of this in anticipation of the arrival of the jolly man in the red suit.
Even the virtual world is heralding the coming holiday season, and constantly bombarding us with reminders that the clock is ticking on our holiday shopping. For example, eBay has had a countdown clock to Christmas for over 10 days now.
I think the clock started around day 55 or so. Today it reads: 38 DAYS. No need to say any more. Just a couple of tree ornaments beside the number as decoration, for the stupid people who might be confused about what the countdown is all about. 😉
The countdown clock reminds us all how many days we have left to spend money. Because let’s face it, that’s what this season has morphed into.
There’s no use fighting it. The commercialization of the holiday season has turned even non Christians into faithful seasonal consumers. It’s not right. It’s not wrong. It just is.
So in keeping with this theme of the consumption of consumer goods over the holiday season, I will again this year try and find some unique gifts for the saxophone player on your shopping list.
If you are the saxophone player, and something I come across is exactly what you’ve been looking for, here’s the chance for you to show your loved ones exactly what it is you would like for the holidays.
So without further delay, I offer up the first of this year’s holiday possibilities. This particular little toy is something I remember from when they were first sold, but I don’t remember seeing a sax player. If I had, I’m sure I would have bought it.

Here is how the seller describes this interesting retro saxophone collectible:
Up for auction is this vintage Rock N Flower dancing flower. It’s in very good condition. From the early eighties era. The flower has a saxophone in its branch hand. Has a great look. Would compliment any office or bedroom. Just turn it on and place close to a radio/stereo and watch the flower dance. Its fun. An excellent addition for the avid novelty collector.
The auction for this Rock’n sax playin’ Flower runs until November 21. Bids are to start at $19.99. At the time of writing there were no bids yet on this blast from Generation X’s past.
Update: This rockin’, sax playin’ flower from the 80s sold for $19.99. It only attracted 1 bid, but in the end, that’s all it took.
noooooo
do you have anymore??? 🙁
I never had one to begin with. Reread the post. I just wrote about an eBay ad—but not mine.
