No, your eyes are not deceiving you. You didn’t accidentally lace your coffee with LSD, or double up on your meds this morning. Yes, it really is a cow sitting on her butt, playing a saxophone, while resting the horn on her udder.
The seller of this Mexican folk art, describes this quirky piece of saxophone art like this:
This black and white spotted cow is wearing a wide brimmed hat, sitting, and playing a saxophone.
About Gerardo Ortega: Gerardo Ortega is the spokesperson of the Ortegas, an extended family from the Santa Cruz de las Huertas neighborhood of Tonala, Mexico that has been producing ceramics for four generations. Process: Pieces are formed out of Tonala clay, smoothed, and fired. Additional material may be added for further smoothing after firing. Pieces are then painted with bright acrylic paint, and lacquer is applied for extra protection and the trademark “barro betus” shine.

Even if this cow does not fit my décor, perhaps it fits yours. If so, you don’t have much time left to snap this baby up. The auction for this saxophone-playing cow ends tomorrow, December 6. The Buy It Now price for this piece of Ortega folk art, is $29.95.
