Starting To Put The Holiday Fashion Accessories In Order

This entry is part 11 of 18 in the series Christmas & Holiday Saxophone Gifts & Collectibles

Like it or not, the holiday season is approaching, and Christmas parties will soon be filling our social calendars. I, like many female saxophone players, have often wished that I had that perfect holiday corsage, to capture both the festive season, and my passion for sax.

If you too know a female saxophone player; a woman who loves the sound of sax; or a drag queen who loves the saxophone, then perhaps today’s eBay offering might be of interest to you. eBay dealer Chrome&Cotton is selling what they describe as a: Vtg 50s Christmas Corsage Plastic Glitter Millinery Saxophone Music Kitsch Retro.

There’s no doubt that this saxophone collectible is kitschy. I think it would look especially fetching on say a 1950s or 1960s holiday party dress.

Here is the full description of this kitschy little item:

Vintage Christmas Corsage

This has a plastic flower flocked with gold glitter, millinery greenery, red ribbon and a gold Saxophone accent. There is a pin on the back. It comes with its original box (box is damaged). Measures about 4″ x 4″.

Shows normal ware for its age.

So if this little gem is something that you think would look lovely on that special person in your life—or yourself—then you have until November 30 to buy it. The price for this kitsch is a mere $9.99.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering why I won’t be buying this kitschy, retro blast from the past: I finally broke down and made my own. I wanted it to go well with my holiday gown. 😉  😆

PS: I think this item is proof of what a popular culture prof of mine said 20 years ago. While talking about all kinds of vintage treasures that were turning up in collectible stores, Maddie said: “There’s a whole new world of tackiness waiting to be rediscovered”. Ain’t that the truth.
