Remember last Christmas when I pointed out a retro, saxophone playing, dancing flower in my annual edition of Online Saxophone Gifts? Well after watching this next video, I’ll bet you’ll wish you would have spent $19.99 and bought it.
Check this out…
Zoot the Root
Can this little guy play, or what? If the one sold in December could play this well, for only $19.99, he would have been a bargain for your band. 😉 😆
To give you a bit of background about Zoot the Root, the video’s owner has provided us with some details. Here’s what he writes:
The call went out for ‘The Root’ so we dug out (joke) some early archive footage of Zoot the Root, the dancing flower sax player, filmed at the Chelsea Jazz Festival and Flower Show in the early seventies while he was still heavily into liquid fertiliser and weedkiller. The film is somewhat marred by the over-use of tacky camera effects, but we can still marvel at his genius as he re-interprets Boyter’s old jazz standard, ‘Riffraff’. The plastic sax is probably a Grafton, although I’ve never seen one in yellow. Can this flower dance? Strictly come dancing it is not!
Somehow I am reminded of both “Bob the Angry Flower” and Zoot from “The Muppet Show”.
