An Extreme Anthropomorphizing Of The Saxophone

The following 2 photos from Michel Coumans made me laugh this morning. I thought about how many times I’ve read about, or heard people assign human qualities to saxophones.

Truth be told, I’ve probably done it a number of times myself. Let’s face it, it’s easy to do, since we play instruments which so closely mimic the human voice.

However, I think this saxophone man is taking the anthropomorphization of saxophones to a whole new level. 😉

Oh, and what’s with the hair piece he’s carrying?

He kind of reminds me of a real life version of KCP’s cartoon saxophones on SOTW. Coincidence? Or was this character inspired by Kim’s cartoons?

Whatever the inspiration, this character is a symbolic representation—perhaps an unintentional one—of the saxophone’s very human-like, tonal qualities.

…this is just my blog. My “real” website is www.bassic-sax.info. If you’re looking for sax info, you should check it out too. There’s lots there!
