The other day I went to the antique and craft fair in Lynden, WA. I actually went to see if I could find a piece of cranberry-coloured art glass for my display case, but I ended up walking away with something much different: some saxophone artwork by Washington-based artist, Peggy Cook.
The pieces that I bought fall under Peggy’s “Contemporary” category. In total I bought four pieces of her art work. The first is a solitary painting called Jazz Fusion.

The other saxophone artwork I bought from Peggy was a triptych called Red Fusion, which is not shown in Peggy’s Contemporary Gallery.

What I really like about Peggy’s art work, are the bright colours she uses, and the stylized musical instruments. Together they give a sense of playfulness to her musical pieces.
I haven’t figured out exactly where I’m going to put these four paintings. I’d like to rearrange the things in my studio and hang them there, but other opinions have chimed in, and have suggested that these bright, colourful pieces should go in a space where more people would get to see them all the time. Regardless of where they go, Peggy Cook’s saxophone artwork will end up adding a very bright splash of colour, and a sense of whimsy. (Something our house is not lacking.)
