A Hammerschmidt’s Pinkie Cluster In Detail

This entry is part 11 of 24 in the series Hammerschmidt Saxophones

I have a fascination with the fine detail work that went into vintage saxophones. Keyguards, octave levers, unusual key mechanisms, and so forth, all attract my attention. So it isn’t surprising that when I photographed my saxophones a few weeks ago, I paid particular attention to the fine detail work that makes some of my vintage saxes so unique.

Here is one such example. This is my full pearl Hammerschmidt.

There is just something quite beautiful in this 50+ year old keywork. Very few saxophones of today carry this level of detail.

…this is just my blog. My “real” website is www.bassic-sax.info. If you’re looking for sax info, you should check it out too. There’s lots there!
