Wow, does eBay charge by the word? If it does, that would explain the price of this vintage reed box—oh yeah, and the 6 vintage reeds.

  Source: TIMSTOYSROOMANDFOSSILS

This vintage Brilhart tenor saxophone reed box with 6 bonus reeds—which hopefully have not been used—can be yours for only $389.89. Yup, you read that right. For just under $400.00 you can own an old reed box which contains 6 vintage reeds. (At least 2 appear to be of a different brand, as they are stamped Selmer, while the others aren’t.)

If you think this is a great deal and you’d like to add these babies to your collection of vintage saxophone paraphernalia, then you have 8 days left to get them at the Buy It Now price listed above. Or you can always try your luck at making the seller an offer.

BTW, how’s the economy where you live? Don’t forget the seller wrote:

listing just to see where it goes…

Unless he’s willing to accept a lot less than the BIN price, I’m guessing it’s going nowhere quick.

…this is just my blog. My “real” website is www.bassic-sax.info. If you’re looking for sax info, you should check it out too. There’s lots there!

  1. Update: Well finally, after I don’t know how many changes in price, and how many kicks at the eBay can, this old Brilhart box with 6 reeds sold in August. The price… $55.00. Obviously this price is down considerably from the $389.89 that the seller had originally asked for.

I hope those reeds turn out to be worth nearly $10.00 a piece, because the box itself is not worth a whole lot—IMHO of course. Naturally other players’ opinions may naturally be different, and if so, I wish you luck in tracking down the old reed boxes of your dreams.
