For no particular reason this morning, I was thinking about some of the wonderful album covers that have been great examples of popular art. This got me thinking about some of the more interesting saxophone album covers of yesterday and today.
I thought it would be interesting to start a new topic on my weblog: Artistic and/or classic album covers that use saxophone imagery. Many of us have CDs or LPs that would fit into this category… I know I own a bucketful. 😀
So for the inaugural post in this new category, I thought a very fitting album cover would be Arthur Blythe’s Lenox Avenue Breakdown. Blythe’s album was released in 1979, and featured a painting done by Mark Hess.

This particular image is available for purchase as a stock image from Hess Design works. It would be interesting to contact the company and find out more about the sizes that this image is available in. I think this would make a wonderful addition to my studio.
