Maybe it’s just my advancing age, but it seems to me that every year Christmas stuff is promoted earlier and earlier.
When I was a child, I remember celebrating Halloween. Then there was nothing for a while. Then all of a sudden Christmas displays would come to stores, and I would get excited about the big man in the red suit, and the presents he would bring.
I’m not sure when exactly, but I was an adult already, when I noticed Christmas displays in stores were put up immediately after Halloween. However, over the past couple of years I noticed something different. I have started to notice a few Christmas displays just on the fringe of the Halloween stuff.
I wonder how many years it will be before Halloween and Christmas will be duking it out for floor space in retail outlets? I can see it now; Santa Claus will be the new Dark Knight.
Think I’m off the mark? Wait for it. I don’t believe that I’m that far from a possible reality.The marketing gurus just haven’t figured out a way to sell a dark Santa to the masses yet.
What happens in the real world happens in the online world as well. Sites such as eBay are seeing an increase in their Christmas gifts and decor. eBay.de is even promoting Christmas shopping already in their side bar and header.
With such temptation, how could I resist doing a search to see what saxophone + Christmas would turn up.

Offering here a mixed group of retro, vintage plastic Christmas items. Nice mix of tree ornaments, display pieces, centerpieces and a mistletoe to hang. Funky retro, kitschy group.
1. 5 blow mold small ornaments including a moose on roof top with a little bottle brush tree, train with an angel bobbing on a spring, reindeer and a couple Frosty snowmen.
2. 4 white plastic baskets with Made in Hong Kong labels featuring sprays of pine cone, berries, bells and a reindeer. About 3″ height. Place card holders….could be.
3. Commodore plastic Santa in his sleigh with a tree, greenery, packages, candy cane and a pair of reindeer harnessed up. In original, sealed bag, Hong Kong
4. Also, Commodore in original, saled bag, Mr and Mrs Santa smooching in a swing under the mistletoe. Designed to hang and Hong Kong
5. A pair of perky little elves about a gilt gold saxophone. Poinsettias , holly leaves and greenery at the base. Identified only, Hong Kong about 13″ height
Funky lot for a retro, kitsch decorating scheme.
Oh yeah, I’m definitely seeing a kitschy decorating scheme already. This 13″ high saxophone is the perfect centre piece for a 1970s-themed Christmas dinner. Don’t you think?
